Envelope-shaped box. The form of the box imitates a folded letter or envelope. The exterior bears an inscription imitating a handwritten address, naming the recipient as Mademoiselle de Lockenheim in Vienna. The interior carries a French proverb: “Les petits présents entretiennent l’amitié” — “Small gifts sustain friendship.”
