Drum-shaped mente button. Its cylindrical core is enclosed by an openwork cast casing. On the sides, anchor-shaped elements alternate with stylized heart-shaped forms. On the top are twelve branching rods, each ending in a claw setting alternately holding either a turquoise or a pearl. At the centre, a turquoise stone is set in a box setting within a six-pointed star. The button can be unscrewed and contains an inner compartment suitable for concealing secret messages. Couriers could take advantage of this feature discreetly.
